Nagpur: Mayor Nanda Jichkar directed the assistant commissioners of all the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) ten zones to identify and submit a list of water logging spots with commissioner Virendra Singh as soon as possible. She also directed the officials to give the reasons of water logging as well as corrective measures to be taken to avoid the same.
Jichkar held a review of water logging spots at the NMC Town Hall, Mahal, before commencement of the budget. Jichkar said, “The need is to end water logging which was witnessed on roads and residential localities after heavy rains lashed the city in last two days. Rain water also gushed into many residences,” she said.
Jichkar also directed the officials to remove encroachments in low lying areas and along the nullahs to avoid water logging.
Ruling party leader Sandip Joshi, municipal commissioner Virendra Singh, deputy mayor Deepraj Pardikar, standing committee chairman Virendra Kukreja, additional municipal commissioner Ravindra Kumbhare, chief fire officer Rajendra Uchake, other corporators and officials were present in the meeting.
