PUNE: City mayor has assured all necessary arrangements for thousands of pilgrims participating in the annual Palkhi procession that is expected to reach the city early next month.
Tilak along with officials of on Monday inspected the road stretches of Palkhi processions. She told authorities to complete the works before the arrival of procession.
The Palkhi procession of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will arrive from Alandi road while procession of Sant Tukaram Maharaj will travel from old Mumbai-Pune road.
Thousands of pilgrims participate in both processions every year. The processions halt in the city for two days.
Corporators from respective wards also participated in the inspection drive and gave suggestions to ensure better services to pilgrims.
Tilak told the authorities to remove unattended vehicles parked along the road and also clear the garbage.
The ward offices were told to repair the potholes and complete pending works of drainage lines. Tilak instructed round-the-clock water and power supply along the procession route and also in the areas where the Palkhis will halt overnight.
The authorities have been told to make adequate arrangements of mobile toilets on the Palkhi routes and at the halts marked for the pilgrims.
