Fire crews are closing down and evacuating trails southeast of Gross Reservoir due to a grass fire reported around 2 p.m. Monday
The fire at 3927 Gross Dam Road was about 75 feet by 50 feet in size, according to scanner traffic around 2:30 p.m. It was also reported to be “breaching the trees,” according to Boulder County Sheriff‘s Office spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield.
Denver Water owns property in the area, according to Haverfield, and is coordinating with fire crews on a response.
The Boulder County Sheriff‘s Office and Coal Creek Fire Protection District are at the scene, and Rocky Mountain Fire Rescue and the U.S. Forest Service are en route, Haverfield said around 2:50 p.m.
We are responding to a fire off of Gross Dam Road, near Walker Ranch Loop. Please avoid the area to allow fire fighters room to respond. Walker Ranch Loop and Crescent trails are closed.
