NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old man sleeping on a in north Delhi’s area was by a car on Saturday night. The driver of the offending vehicle, a Swift, was caught by the locals.
The victim’s employer said that he had been working till late and had decided to sleep on the footpath as he did not want to disturb others at home by ringing the doorbell.
Cops got a PCR call about the incident late on Saturday night, soon after which a team was rushed to the spot. The victim, Viran, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Viran’s employer told the cops that he, along with his father, had been working with him for quite some time. “Viran was working till late in the night on Saturday. He knew people at home would wake up if he rang the bell, so he slept on the footpath. Barely half an hour later, a speeding Swift car crushed him,” his employer added.
The accused, Ankit, slowed down his vehicle to check on the man, but seeing him lie in a pool of blood, he tried speeding away, but was caught by passersby.
